Snowboarding!

Monday, July 11th, 2005

In only a few hours time, i will be heading off to the snow at Mount Buller. Woooooooo Hooooooo! I have been looking forward to this trip since last spring, and now it is only hours away. I will be right back, in 4 days time!

Not Long Now

Sunday, July 10th, 2005

The lead up to the snow trip this time around hasn’t been as exciting as i had anticipated, despite being a bigger group and a longer stay. I think this is mainly due to the organising that went into this trip, it has been been quite a stressful experience compared to the last two. None the less, it is only 2 days away now, and i am sure all that built up stress will be relieved by the time i hit that very first run. Swooosh, Swooosh, Swooosh.

It is only a couple days away now, and i can’t say that i am not looking forward to Tuesday morning. In fact, the weather has been very kind to us in allowing a huge dump of freshies at Buller overnight. I am going to enjoy this immensely, and i’m sure everyone else will too, especially the first-timers. I have caught a bit of a nasty cough though, which is bad both in timing and luck. It appears to be worse than i first thought as of this morning, and is becoming quite chesty now. All that hard laughing from playing Pictionary last night did not help either. No matter, i have been taking some Ease-a-Cold, and i will fight this nuisance away!

I have spent a total of 8 hours loading up my iPod Shuffle with musak, which amounts to 1 whole gig of joy to my ears and brain. I will rock the slopes! Yeah baby! But seriously, i think i might need to leave one of my ears unplugged just for safeties sake. I have also acquired some Camelbak technology, all thanks to a very generous Chan. This thing will be very handy indeed!

Major Events

Friday, July 8th, 2005

This week has been big in the major events arena. In the last few days, we have seen the Live 8 World-Wide Concert, the G8 Summit, the London 2012 Olympics Announcement, and the London Bomb Blasts. My condolences go out to the Family and Friends of the Victims that were killed in the attacks, and to Those that were injured. This week will be one which will not be easily forgotten, and it isn’t even Friday proper yet.

James Dean

Thursday, July 7th, 2005

The State of Origin decider has finished with a fizzle with the Blues winning 36 points to 10. What remains though are incredible statistics in the games 25 year history. Before tonights match, the two sides have each won 36 games, and have drawn twice. After tonights thumping of Queensland by NSW, both sides have scored exactly 205 tries each. The action couldn’t be more intense, in what i consider to be the pinnacle of rugby league competition in the world. I look forward to May 2006.

There was a McDonalds commercial back in the 90’s of a James Dean look-alike walking down a busy New York City street oblivious to all the cling and clatter around him while eating a burger. I’ve always been curious of the song that is played during the scene, and a bit of research lead me to David Essex. The song, Rock On, written in the 70’s is apparently a tribute to James Dean. It’s kinda trippy, i like it a lot. This year marks the 50th anniversary of James Deans death. For those who don’t know, his young life was cut short in a highway car accident while driving his Porsche to a racing competition. He lived fast and died young, at 24 years of age.

Anna suggested to me today that if i wanted to attract more attention in here, i should mention the colour of my jocks, or whether or not i wear jocks at all. Anna, you are wackety-wacked man, that is why you are so funny. Well, personally i don’t think the colours of my under-garments is of much interest to many people. Perhaps Anna can explain why she thinks this topic is of any interest at all. And by the way, your peep hole has been discovered, you naughty girl.

More Webcomics

Sunday, July 3rd, 2005

As of today, i will be adding 2 new webcomics into my list of webcomics to read list. That brings it to a grand total of 3 webcomics. 3 times more the amount of fun! Woo Hoo! Let the fun reading begin.

www.scarygoround.com and www.dieselsweeties.com

Well I did manage to waken myself up at 5:30am as i foolishly planned, but i was only awake for a total of 7 seconds to reach over and turn off the alarm before falling straight back into a deep snooze. Only to be awoken again at 7:30am. I think i’ll add a high tech sleeping chamber to my wishlist and some sleep inducers. That, or a HDD tv recorder to tape those tv shows that air at 5:30am.

Has anyone else noticed that the guitar riff to the O Yeah song by End Of Fashion sounds almost identical to the riff in the Pixies song Where Is My Mind? *cough*rip off*cough*

Go The Wallabies!

Saturday, July 2nd, 2005

So the Australia V France game is gonna be broadcasted at 5:30am. Five-bloody-thirty-Ay-Em. Who the heck is gonna be up at 5:30am to watch a game of rugby union? I mean, unless you are a chronic insomiac with severely dug in panda eyes, i’m betting that you’re not gonna be up at those little hours of the morning. My only chance of catching that game and actually staying awake through it is if i go to bed right now. Unfortunately, i do not go out like lights do when it comes to sleeping. I’m a fussy sleeper, meaning i find it tough to settle down and switch off the brain, and a very light sleeper at it too. But hey, i just might be crazy enough to try it. I’m gonna have to be up at 7am anyway to take Her to work so what’s another 1 1/2 hours less of sleep. Sounds like a very unwise thing to do, and i’m probably gonna regret it come monday morning, but who cares, i’ve missed the last 2 games, i’m not gonna miss this one too.

Mental notes for tommorow. Falling face first into a cup of steaming hot tea can be hazardous to your health, not to mention bad for your facial complexion. Do remind me not to do this tommorow, or ever. Also, stay clear of the carb loaded foods, they just stuff you up and leave you unsatisfied afterwards. Try something different, something you’ve never had before and something that you’ll probably wouldn’t want to have again. Smile and laugh.

Rage

Saturday, July 2nd, 2005

So i find myself once again staying up past midnight doing the things which nocturnal humans do when its past midnight. For me, this happens to be late night television and catching up with the QC webcomics. It’s cool to watch Rage every now and then to see the cool bands they have on. I could probably stay up all night to watch it if i didn’t have a normal life to lead. As a matter of fact, i think i did do that once back in Uni days. It was a marathonic 8 hour phone conversation coupled with an 8 hour dose of Rage.

Speaking of late night television, i was watching David Letterman almost a month back now, and there was this segment where they had some audience members do their favourite celebrity-impersonations for some cheap entertainment value. So there is this guy who stands up and does an Arnie-Terminator thing, and there’s another guy who does a Robert De Niro-Taxi Driver impersonation. This is followed by a few other audience members doing their thing, followed by alot of hand clapping and finally a commercial break, but then it got me thinking. The commonly accepted meaning of celebrity-impersonations is actually a misnomer. What i mean here is, all these people who were asked to impesonate a celebrity had in fact acted out one of the movie role characters of their chosen celebrity, and not the actual celebrity themselvs in real life. It is more appropriate to call these things actor-driven-character-impersonations.

Monkeys Are Good People

Friday, July 1st, 2005

Okay, my sleep-wake cycle is in messdom land at the moment. I’ve gotten myself into this fuzzy-wuzzy state where I’ve slept myself to silliness after dinner and woken up at mid-night only to be awake for another couple hours before going back to bed once again. Does any of this make any sense?

Monkeyshirt357Monkeys are good people, remember that. Check out the other shirts from Diesel Sweeties. The City Circle tram should not be called as such. It should be called the City Semi-Circle since it doesn’t go around in a complete circle anymore with the Flinders Street overpass construction work going on. And it never really did go around in a circle in the first place, it was more like a rectangular shape thingy.
